FAQ By Mr. Yusuf Mansoor Part - 4

Q: Kindly suggest which nib is best out of jowo, bock, schmidt ?
A: Few things to remember,
1. All Jowo, Bock or schmidt nibs are generic nib,
2. All of them have passing quality control hence have fail save ratios,
3. Schmidt is Bock made for economic range,
Hence out of the box no one can guarantee, however reviews and personal experiences of people vouch for Jowo nib.

Q: We are all aware the fame of  Jowo,Schmidt and Bock nibs, what about Kanwrite nibs? How they fare with them?

A: Very good and relevant question,
Almost all of us are aware of international generic nib maker   with varied experience.
However we have less spoken about our own indigenous nibs like Kanwrite and Ambitious. My 2paisa👇
Kanwrite: they are as par with international maker in almost all aspect superseding almost all others in EF - F segment. Please note their new batch with improved look is truly international, not only that Kanwrite cater to every body's need and have most varieties internationally covering almost all range. Also undoubtedly they listen to their client and most accessible.
2. Ambitious: is another established nib maker from India who is in this business for ages, unfortunately they thrive on OEM business and they are happy with the way they operates. Whatever they make is good enough but certainly they prefer playing safe hence lack varieties.
They cant match Kanwrite's range or services. Not at all accessible hence limited to few individuals.

Q: kindly share the difference between italic and stub for everyone's benefit?

A: Good question,
In principle both Italic and Stubs are the same with flattened contact point.
Having said that, Italics have variable contact points and also named as such like
1. Normal Italic: Stub
2. Cursive Italic: rounded side bottom contact point,
3. Crisp Italic: Sharp side bottom contact point for better griping on paper for cursive writing, often useful for Italic Cursive.
CI being smooth truncated side bottom touch point can b used for regular writing as well as normal Italic nib
